Disk Bucket metrics

Unisphere collects and displays metrics for disk buckets.

Within the PM metrics section, V4 is used to denote that the metric is supported only by a storage system (array) running PowerMaxOS 10 (6079). V3 is used to denote that the metric is supported only by a storage system (array) running HYPERMAX OS 5977 or PowerMaxOS 5978. Metrics without the denotation are supported by all storage systems (arrays).

The following table lists all metrics that are available for disk buckets.

Table 1. Disk bucket metrics
Metric Description
% Busy The percent busy of disks in this bucket
Avg lOs/sec The average number of disk I/Os of disks in this bucket
Avg Number of Disks The average number of disks in this bucket
Avg Queue Depth When an I/O enters the queue, it first checks how deep the queue is. After incrementing the queue depth bucket, it increments the associated count bucket by 1. This count represents the number of I/Os that encountered queues of certain depth during the past time interval. The intent of these buckets is to identify I/O bursts which in turn generate large queues and long response times.
Avg Throughput The average throughput
Read RT The average read response time
Reads/sec The average number of disk reads of disks in this bucket
Rebuild Blocks Read/sec The rebuild blocks read (V4)
Rebuild Blocks Written/sec The rebuild blocks written (V4)
Response Time The weighted average response time (read + writes) for disks in this bucket
Spare Hypers Count The spare hypers count (V4)
Throughput Read The average number of MBs read from disks in this bucket
Throughput Written The average number of MBs written to disks in this bucket
Total Capacity The total capacity of disks in this bucket
Used Capacity The used capacity of disks in this bucket
Write RT The average write response time
Writes/sec The average number of disk writes of disks in this bucket
